The ‘Castagnola’ is distinguished by its adherence to
ecological policy: Solar
panels provide 1kw of electrical energy which is
sufficient to run a refrigerator, lighting, television
and radio, as well as a hairdryer or other small
electrical appliances.
The house is heated by a wood
stove, (free wood is provided) which runs the central
heating and provides hot water for the bathroom and
kitchen.
The kitchen is fitted with
everything necessary for the preparation of meals: a
small gas cooker, saucepans and cutlery etc, as well as
a beautiful fireplace which can be used for cooking
grilled meat. There is also an English recipe book which
will help with the preparation of the local traditional
dishes for which the area is well known.
The owners are willing to provide a ‘welcome’ basket
of food containing local products, some of which they
prepared themselves, for example the famous local sweet
chestnut flour as well as other products used in the
area.
